Location:The Benedict Music Tent
Date: July 17, 2011
As the old adage goes, "When you're in Aspen in the summer, do as the Aspenites do". And I did. I went picnicking with my friend Leily on the lawn of the Benedict Music Tent. Locals call that Aspen Culture!

Each summer since 1949, locals and visitors enjoy a two month - season of the Aspen Music Festival in various Aspen locations including the Benedict Music Tent. This year's festival season which runs from June 29 until August 21,2011 features the world's most accomplished and promising musicians in daily concerts, master classes and recitals.

As lawn seating outside the Benedict Music Tent is always free, music lovers frequented the venue with their families and friends, spreading a blanket, laying out gourmet feast and enjoying wine and cheese as the soothing classical tunes lullaby in the air.

If lawn setting is not enough for you, you can sit inside the tent by buying tickets ranging from $30-$76. I was lucky enough to get in last July 17, 2011 (Sunday) without having to pay a dime! Thanks to my friend's Leily's benefactor for letting me taste a glorious summer of friendship and music.

na-amuse ako sa signage. LOL. an open park, but not a playground. must be great to have picnic there while listening to some really great sounds :)
ReplyDeleteHey Gladys. yea it was truly a delight to experience a music festival as unique as Aspen does it annually.A real feast for music lovers esp. if you're into classical. Maybe the Listening Lawn is used as a park in other season like Fall or Spring. But reserved as an extension of the music tent in the summer!
